DJI Phantom 3 Review
Posted on December 08 2015
Released in the spring of this year, the DJI Phantom 3 is arguably the best and most advanced of DJI’s Phantom series. The Professional version was released in May of 2015, with the Advanced released in June. Offering all the features you’d expect from a Phantom drone, the Phantom 3 currently has a nearly five-star rating on Amazon and includes a number of fantastic features many say are worth its hefty price tag.
Let’s review a few of these features to determine if the Phantom 3 and even the DJI Phantom 3 Professional is truly worth the investment:
Faster and More Responsive
“On testing, it’s obvious that the power has been drastically increased,” writes photographer and digital artist Colin Smith for Photoshop Cafe. “The quadcopter is much faster and much more responsive. So much so, that I was taken surprise by it. I am very impressed with the responsiveness. Even yawing (rotating) in place produces a very smooth spin rather than the old “toilet bowl” effect. The controls are very quick and snappy.”
Indeed, the Phantom 3 is capable of flying through the air at incredible speeds without losing its responsiveness or “pinpoint” precision. Hailed as flying a new product rather than an upgrade, the Phantom 3 is possibly one of the quickest and most agile drones on the market today.
High-Quality Camera Plus Digital Streaming
The Phantom 3’s camera offers exceptional video quality. The drone features a 1080p Full HD video recording with a fully stabilized 3-axis gimbal. DJI’s Lightbridge digital streaming allows you to view your stream in 720p while still recording in 1080p.
Vision Positioning System
This drone also features a Vision Positioning system ideal for stable flight indoors even when a GPS signal isn’t available. A built-in database of no-flight zones, intelligent battery, auto takeoffs and landings, and the power mobile app all add to the drone’s flyability.
