Celebrated as the best of the Phantom series, the DJI Phantom 3 was released in May of this year and is easily one of the most agile drones on the market today. Capable of capturing incredible images and videos, the DJI Phantom 3 offers live streaming so you can see exactly what the quadcopter is seeing at all times via the DJI Pilot app.

Other improvements making the Phantom 3 a popular option include significantly less barrel distortion, improved range, reduced noise, and much faster shooting. The latter is especially true when shooting in RAW format.

Improved range clearly means battery improvements! DJI has built on its previous Phantom models to create an even “smarter” battery with extended life. Let’s check it out:

Capacity and Voltage

The Phantom 3 battery has a capacity of 4480 mAh, and a voltage of 15.2V. In comparison, the Phantom 2 Vision+ features a voltage of 11.1.

Built-In Sensors

As with the Vision+, the Phantom 3 features built-in sensors that let you know “everything about the status” of the quadcopter’s battery. This includes how much flight time you have left. The battery also charges at a dramatically faster rate than its predecessors.

Flight Time

This personal (and professional) drone boasts about 23 minutes of flight time, which isn’t a drastic change from the Phantom 2 Vision+. However, it’s still an improvement over the DJI Inspire 1, which features 18 minutes of flight time.

Offering total camera control through the DJI Pilot app, enjoy streaming your videos in real time on YouTube and accessing full manual camera controls. As with earlier Phantom models, the Phantom 3 includes auto takeoff, landing, and return home.
