The Phantom 4 Pro version 2.0 is an upgraded version of the same Phantom 4 Pro that changed the drone world. It has all of the same features as the Phantom 4 Pro, but with an upgraded transmission system for clearer, faster live images, as well as upgraded motors and props for 4dB of noise reduction!

Powerful Onboard Camera with Mechanical Shutter

Designed to deliver superior aerial imagery for both recreational and professional use, the Phantom Pro 4 features an integrated three-axis gimbal stabilized camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor, a specially engineered wide-angle lens, and powerful imaging processors. With this exceptional camera, the Phantom 4 Pro is able to capture highly detailed 20-megapixel photos and ultra-stable 4K videos in a wide variety of lighting conditions. Its high-ISO sensor boasts of bigger pixels, 12 stops of dynamic range, an improved signal-to-noise ratio, and an ISO range of 100 to 12,800 to ensure optimum low-light capability.

The integration of a mechanical shutter also helps eliminate motion blur or the “jello” effect that you usually get from using the camera while flying at high speed or when shooting fast objects. However, it still features an electronic shutter, which now has an improved maximum shutter speed of 1/8000-second.

Upgraded Video Processing for Production-Optimized 4K Video

The Phantom 4 Pro has an enhanced video processing system that supports the H.265 4K video codec at 30fps. This ensures optimum image quality and efficient video compression, as H.265 doubles the amount of image processing as H.264.

Unlike the Phantom 4, which only supports H.264 and records up to 4K/30fps at a bitrate of 60Mbps, the Phantom 4 Pro is able to capture DCI 4K (4096x2160) video at 60fps, recorded at a bitrate of 100Mbps. This enables the drone to deliver high-quality output that is optimized for cinema and production and makes it possible to capture high-resolution video in slow motion.

Multi-Sensor Flight Control System with Obstacle Sensing and Avoidance

FlightAutonomy, DJI’s advanced flight control technology, makes use of the main camera, multiple vision sensors, an infrared sensing system, GPS and GLONASS, two ultrasonic rangefinders, redundant inertial measurement units and compasses, and powerful computing cores to enable the Phantom 4 Pro to hover, navigate, and sense obstacles with ultimate precision while accurately gathering crucial flight information.

Aided by its vision sensors and infrared sensing system, the Phantom 4 Pro is capable of sensing obstacles in five directions and avoiding them in four directions.

Fully Equipped with Intelligent Flight Modes

Not all aerial images and videos are the same—each one requires different flight characteristics to help you achieve your desired output. The Phantom 4 Pro ensures safe and easy operation while executing complex flights by incorporating several intelligent flight modes designed to provide the best flight characteristics for each user’s production needs.

Gesture Mode

This specialized mode allows the pilot to instruct the aircraft through hand gestures. With the aid of computer vision technology, the drone is able to recognize a subject’s specific arm and hand gesture and carry out the commands associated with these gestures. The aircraft can either place the subject in the center of the frame or start a three-second countdown before taking a selfie or group picture.

TapFly Mode

With TapFly mode, the pilot can make the aircraft fly in any direction by tapping on the screen of the smartphone or tablet mounted on the remote controller. As the drone flies to the chosen direction, its flight direction will be shown on the screen in real-time thanks to the new AR route function. This will enable the user to modify the flight path at any given time.

There are three specific control options for easy in-flight shooting and hovering in TapFly mode:

  • TapFly Forward - directs the drone to fly in the direction of the screen tap
  • TapFly Backward - directs the drone to fly in the opposite direction of the screen tap
  • TapFly Free - locks the drone in forward direction while allowing the camera to turn in various directions during flight

  • ActiveTrack Mode

In DJI’s ActiveTrack mode, the Phantom 4 Pro uses image recognition algorithms to deliver impressive subject tracking capabilities. It helps the aircraft recognize and track a wide variety of subjects, including vehicles and animals, while keeping them in frame. Drone operators can choose between three specific ActiveTrack submodes for custom tracking methods:

  • Trace - tracks subject from the front or from behind while avoiding obstacles
  • Profile - tracks subject from the side for moving profile shots
  • Spotlight - tracks subject by keeping the camera locked on it while the drone flies in any given direction

  • Return to Home

Return to Home is one of DJI’s key features as it enables the aircraft to safely return to its point of origin even after losing connection with the controller or shortly before running out of battery. By recording relevant flight data immediately after takeoff, the drone is able to “remember” its flight path and follow the same route for its return flight. Using the same data, the Phantom 4 Pro is able to adjust its flight path to accurately avoid obstacles that were detected during its initial flight. Once it arrives at its predetermined home point, the drone is also able to detect the ground and assess its suitability for landing. If there are any obstacles on or around the site, the drone will simply hover at a certain height and alert the pilot to ensure a safe landing.

Remote Controller with OcuSync HD Video Transmission System

The Phantom 4 Pro comes with a dedicated remote controller that has a built-in device mount to allow you to use any smartphone or tablet for viewing the camera’s live feed or for controlling the camera and drone through the DJI GO app. It is also integrated with an upgraded HD video transmission system, which provides 5.8 GHz transmission support and uses Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to enable the transmission of control signals and the reception of video transmission signals on the same frequency. When activated, the drone will be able to evaluate nearby signal levels to allow it to choose the best transmission frequency (with the lowest level of interference) to use during flight.

This advanced video transmission system allows the Phantom 4 Pro to stream videos in real-time with no image lag, even as the distance between the pilot and the drone increases.

The remote controller offers video transmission of up to 4.3 miles.
