Parazero’s SafeAir™ is the only proven drone recovery system reliable and effective in any emergency situation. It combines the autonomous capabilities to identify loss of control and decide on recovery with patented active parachute deployment to prevent falls in any situation.



SafeAir™’s mounting design allows for 1, 3, or 5 GPS antennas, meaning it works with your Matrice 600, Matrice 600 Pro, or Matrice 600 Pro D-RTK.



This parachute system includes an autonomous flight termination system that shuts down power to the rotors before parachute deployment to prevent tangling or severing of the cords, as well as preventing propellers from injuring people on the ground. From trigger, full deployment takes roughly 7 meters (depending on payload weight and atmospheric conditions).


 

The integrated SmartAir™ emergency computer monitors the drone’s systems and flight pattern to deploy safety measures as necessary. Cases that can activate the recovery systems include loss of control, free fall, power loss, as well as other critical malfunctions. These systems provide new opportunities for the unmanned aerial industry including autonomous operation, BVLOS flights, and flights over populated areas.

    • Does the parachute eject automatically?
      Yes, this is a completely autonomous system! The Parachute is triggered automatically using the SmartAir system (with its independent sensors and backup power) depending on a set of parameters. Automatic activation in cases of free fall, breach of roll angle, complete power loss. The parameters configuration can be modified by the user (not recommended to change).
    • SafeAir can also be triggered manually by the DJI extension or a dedicated remote control.
    • How do you verify the rotors don't tangle with the parachute wires?
      The recovery system includes an autonomous Flight Termination System (FTS). Upon decision by the SmartAir Emergency computer that of emergency situation that requires parachute deployment, recovery system will shut down the power to the rotors, before parachute deployment, thus preventing entanglement.
    • What is the altitude loss till parachute open?
      From Trigger, at ISA conditions, and no wind, it is on average 7 meters, to full parachute open, depending on payload weight and atmospheric conditions.
    • Is there any indication that the system is ready to go before takeoff?
      ParaZero recovery system includes a built-in self-check mechanism that alerts the user in case the system is not operative, prior to takeoff.
    • Do I need to send the drone to you for installation? or Is it easy enough to mount the recovery parachute system by myself?
      the system can easily be installed by the user. The product comes with detailed instructions on how to do it in an easy installation process and also an online video.
    • Does the parachute system require power?
      The system has its own power for activation. It is initially charged by the drone’s batteries and requires very low energy, thus does not affect the drone power. The system automatically deploys if the power runs out.
    • What will be the expected impact energy based on total weight of the sensor and drone?
      The impact energy is between 69-160 Jules depending on the payload.
    • Can ParaZero SafeAir systems Be Re-Packed After Deployment?
      SafeAir parachute system is a "last resort" system, same as Airbags in cars, this system was designed to protect the drone, sensors and hopefully 3rd party. As such, the systems have to be examined, packed, and pass quality control by the manufacturer.
      After the system was deployed it may be more cost effective and time effective to purchase another system or a "cartridge" by your closest dealer. But repacking by the manufacturer is also available.
    • How does the SafeAir system interfere with the aircraft GPS?
      It doesn't. it was designed not to affect the GPS in any manner.
    • What kind of sensors does the system have?
      SmartAir has an onboard IMU with Accelerometer, Gyroscopes, and a barometer sensor.
    • What are the ParaZero advantages compared to other parachutes?
      ParaZero systems include the “SmartAir” Auto Deployment emergency computer. It has several advantages:
      a. Totally autonomous and independent operation – independent Identification of breach of flight envelope (with independent sensors), Independent flight termination, Independent and automatic parachute deployment activation.
      b. Commercial aviation grade reliability – MTBCF of 10^-7
      c. Includes an independent Flight Termination System (FTS). Stops the props, preventing parachute entanglement and protecting people from high RPM propellers. It does not have to be connected or integrated with the M-600 flight control system.
      d. Independent power for parachute deployment activation
      e. Plug & Play installation
    • How do we prevent system from deploying unintendingly?
      The system has very high reliability as long as properly operated. The system includes an Arm/Disarm capability (Arm only when airborne), there's a safety pin, and a safety cover.
    • Can the systems be sent on commercial flights?
      The systems are DG Class 9 and are sent via FedEx and other carriers via air, globally. Please show your carrier the DG Class 9 certificate (supplied by ParaZero) on the arrangements needed for sending it.
    • Will a SafeAir System Bring My Aircraft Down Without Damage?
      Our tests showed that the Orientation of the falling craft influences the result and can result in minor damage or break to propeller/ ESC for example. The SafeAir recovery system vastly reduces the impact energy to the ground, reducing the damage.
    • How Long Are ParaZero Products Under Warranty, and What Does This Cover?
      All ParaZero products have a (1) one-year manufacturer warranty, which covers manufacturer-related defects, errors or faults with the product at hand. Please see detailed warranty contract on ParaZero website.
    • With this system, can I now fly over people?
      No matter how safe your aircraft is, we never advise users to fly over people, but if regulation permits flying over people, SafeAir greatly reduces the risk involved.
