Freefly LR1 Thermal Upgrade: FLIR Boson 640R module for dual thermal and RGB imaging
The Freefly LR1 Thermal Upgrade adds advanced thermal imaging to the LR1 Payload, enabling Astro and Astro Max operators to capture both RGB and radiometric LWIR data in a single flight. Powered by the FLIR Boson 640R sensor, it delivers 640 × 512 thermal resolution with geotagging and spot metering for precision inspection and mapping.
Seamless integration and field-ready installation
Designed for straightforward installation, the LR1 Thermal Upgrade mounts directly onto the existing LR1 Payload using four camera screws and three counterweight screws, connecting via the expansion port. Once installed, operators can toggle between standard RGB and thermal imaging directly within Astro's live feed. The module's 13.6 mm lens provides the ideal field of view for mapping, inspection, and industrial thermography.
Professional-grade thermal performance
Weighing just 92 g including its counterweight, the FLIR Boson 640R module maintains Astro's flight balance while adding significant data capability. It captures radiometric imagery with temperature measurement across the scene, producing geotagged data for detailed post-flight analysis. When paired with the LR1 Laser Range Finder Upgrade, it supports synchronized distance and heat measurement for high-precision inspection work.
