Autel Alpha + L35T: a new era of aerial imaging

The Autel Alpha, an enterprise-grade UAV by Autel Robotics, has garnered significant interest at technology exhibitions, including the June 2023 Energy Drone and Robotics Summit, highlighting its capacity to fulfill the sophisticated requirements of professional industries.

Following its recent FCC approval, the drone is poised to make a substantial impact on the U.S. market, delivering a combination of cutting-edge capabilities and strong performance.

Transmission range and endurance

The Autel Alpha is equipped with a robust 20-km transmission range, ensuring reliable connectivity under tough circumstances. 

It also promises significant endurance, with a maximum flight duration of 40 minutes and a hover time of 38 minutes, highlighting its effective power utilization. 

Its durability is enhanced by an IP55 weather rating, which allows it to operate in diverse weather conditions without affecting its performance. The total weight of the drone, including its battery and gimbal, is 6100g.

Powerful L35T camera payload

The Autel L35T Gimbal Camera is an advanced gimbal camera with multiple sensors, made specifically for new UAVs like the Autel Alpha and Autel Titan. 

It uses Lidar technology, a remarkable 35x optical zoom capability, and has high-tech thermal imaging, features that are represented in its "L35T" name.

Wide-angle camera

• Sensor and lens

Equipped with a 1/2" CMOS sensor, the wide-angle camera of the L35T Gimbal payload boasts 48MP for capturing expansive landscapes and intricate details. 

It comes with a lens that provides a 24mm equivalent focal length and an f/2.8 aperture, ensuring broad vistas and detailed imagery are captured with clarity.

• ISO range and media formats

Offering versatility in lighting conditions, the wide camera integrated in L35T supports an ISO range up to 6400 for photographs and 64000 for video, extendable to 256000 in Night Scene mode. 

It records in JPG and DNG for images and MP4/MOV for video, with a maximum video resolution of 3840*2160 P30.

Zoom camera

The zoom camera incorporates a 1/1.8" CMOS sensor and offers extensive zoom capabilities, ranging from 1-35X optical to up to 560X digital zoom, enabling the capture of distant subjects with remarkable clarity.

• ISO range and aperture flexibility

Matching the wide camera in sensitivity, the zoom camera’s ISO range accommodates various lighting situations, including an expanded range for Night Scene up to ISO 320000. 

The lens features a variable aperture to maintain superior image quality across different lighting conditions.

Thermal cameras

The L35T attachment is outfitted with two thermal cameras, Wide and Tele, each powered by Uncooled VOx Microbolometers. 

The cameras offer distinct fields of view (42° for Wide and 12.3° for Tele) and focal lengths (13mm for Wide and 45mm for Tele), designed to meet diverse thermal imaging needs.

• Imaging resolution and temperature sensitivity

With a resolution of 640*512 P25, these thermal cameras can detect temperatures ranging from -20℃ to +550℃ with precision, proving indispensable for tasks such as industrial inspections and search and rescue missions.

The drone also integrates 360-degree obstacle avoidance to ensure safe maneuverability around potential hazards. It operates across versatile frequency bands (2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz), offering enhanced communication flexibility.
