When Inspire 1 was released in November 2014, it revolutionized aerial film and photography in the film industry. Two years after the introduction of the said drone, DJI has yet again took it a step higher with the Inspire 2.
The Inspire 2 is DJI's answers to the growing and ever-changing needs of the film industry of a reliable, high-tech yet easy to maneuver drone with beautiful filming capabilities. A second iteration of the DJI Inspire 1, the Inspire 2 doesn't fall short in performance and features - in fact, it is more powerful compared than its older brother.
One of the major improvements of the Inspire 2 is the flight time. While the Inspire 1 can give you 18 minutes, you can fly the Inspire 2 for a maximum of 27 minutes. The 18-minute fly time of the Inspire 1 is of course if you equipped with the 450mmAh battery. You can get 22 minutes with the compatible 5700 mAh battery, but you will still have 5 minutes more with the new generation.
The Inspire 2 also comes with the dual battery redundancy feature, which means you can use both powers of the two equipped batteries. In case one of the batteries fail, your drone won't crash. The drone will pull its power from the remaining battery.
Cold weather performance is also better with the Inspire 2. The device has a battery warming function so there's no need to wait for the temperatures to become warm.
As for the design and weight, the Inspire 2 is a bit heavier – it weighs 7.58 pounds while the Inspire 1 is at 6.27 pounds. One significant change is the choose of color. The Inspire 2 comes with a metallic finish.
Range and speed are also better with the Inspire 2 - top speed of 65mph and 4.3 miles for the Inspire 2 and 49mph and 4.3 miles for the first generation.
Another great feature of the second generation is the 360-degree obstacle avoidance system.
There are also infrared sensors which can detect obstacles as much as a 5-meter range. Dual-person drone control is made easier as DJI equipped a FPV camera on a gimbal for the pilot to view and focus the surroundings while the photographer or videographer captures the right videos.
So how about video quality? You'll get crisp and clear resolutions because you can either use the X4S or the X5S top of the line cameras.
